A beloved national cheese in the U.K., Double Gloucester is about as British as it gets. Double Gloucester is a bright orange relative to cheddar. On the less-sharp side, Double Gloucester is firm and moist. Its flavor is much like cheddar.
The name comes from the tradition of milking cows twice a day and making the wheels from two batches of curds, hence the “double”.;
Double Gloucester is great with British fare. Think sausages, potatoes, mustard, breakfast and more. Traditionally eaten at the pub, it’s perfect paired with beer and salty bar snacks.
We hand-cut and wrap this cheese in wedges of 1 pound and 8 ounces and you can also buy an entire wheel of approx. 9 pounds.
