Mizithra or myzithra is a Greek whey cheese or mixed milk-whey cheese from sheep or goats, or both. It is sold both as a fresh cheese, similar to Italian ricotta, and as a salt-dried grating cheese, similar to Italian ricotta salata. Romano cheese is salty and sharp-tasting.
It is often used in pesto and other sauces, melted in “gratin” dishes, pasta, grated or eaten with crackers when it is paired with cooling cucumber and fresh tomato. The blend of these two cheeses becomes something divine and super delicious.
Ingredients:Mizithra cheese (pasteurized sheep's and goat's whey, milk and cream, salt), Romano cheese (pasteurized cow's milk, cheese cultures, sea salt, enzymes).
