Gorgonzola Piccante is Italy’s most famous blue cheese. There are two types: dolce and piccante, the latter is also called Mountain Gorgonzola. Dolce refers to the younger, sweeter version. This version, the 'piccante' takes the word “spicy” which refers to its firmer texture and more concentrated flavor. Gorgonzola piccante has a strong presence of blue veining, and a bold blue cheese flavor. Salty yet balanced, gorgonzola is piquant, with a zesty spiciness.

Gorgonzola piccante is used in many traditional Italian dishes. Try it with pasta, potatoes, risotto and more. It can be served with a delicious beer or wine - try something with some strength, like medium to bold reds. Also wonderful with sweeter things honey, pears, and chocolate.
